1. What made you give CrossFit a try?
I was looking for something new and different. I always enjoyed weight training but hit a period where I did not enjoy going to the gym. My good friend Jake Theimann joined NewCov before me and asked me to check it out so I did and it was the exact change I needed.
2. What did you think after your first WOD?
I can hardly remember the first WOD but I am sure I was beat! I do remember the first month being so sore everyday.
3. What has been your favorite CrossFit memory so far?
My favorite memory was The Open 2019. I was starting to understand gymnastic movements but couldn’t do them at all. During the Open I reached so many goals. I did my first hand stand push up and first muscle up. It felt great!
4. What is your favorite movement?
Squat snatch is my favorite movement but also my worst movement.
5. What is your least favorite movement?
Without a doubt thrusters or clusters. These movements are horrible.
6. Do you follow any specific diet?
I am a huge advocate for a balanced diet and lifestyle. I am a Licensed and Registered Dietitian so food is my thing! These fad diets that everyone loves can be overwhelming. They do have their place for certain people but are not a lifestyle choice. Eat your fruits and veggies, focus on protein with meals, and have that piece of chocolate if you want.
7. What has been the biggest improvement you've seen from your training?
My biggest improvement from training has been my mentality. I have much more confidence with my training and in myself. Functionally I am able to do a lot more movements that I ever thought I could.
8. What advice do you have for beginners?
Listen and become friends with the coaches, they will help you get to where you want to be. And focus on your diet, physical activity can get you far but a nutritious diet with physical activity can change your world.
9. What are your goals for the future?
My goal is to do more strength training with my workouts and reach some new PR’s within the next month. Really focusing on cleans and snatches.
